Antoinette “Toni” Pileggi Scott was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1936 to Eugene and Antoinette Pileggi. The family remained in Brooklyn until they moved to the tiny town of Bayville on Long Island when Toni (or Annette as she was know to her family) was a teenager. She graduated from Oyster Bay High School and went on to receive her Bachelors Degree from Beaver College. She met and married Jack V. Scott, Jr. and had two children, Deborah and Jack. She was widowed at a young age and went on to pursue her Masters Degree in teaching. She moved her young family from Bayville to Huntington, NY and taught primarily second grade for 30+ years at Oakwood Elementary School.
Toni was a beloved teacher in her school and was devoted to her students. In her long retirement, she enjoyed her passions and hobbies. She was a voracious reader, lover of the opera and museums, and a world traveler. Toni visited many countries across several continents and never lost her curiosity or desire to learn. While not traveling, she loved Manhattan and enjoyed regular weekends there, the beach (especially summers in Montauk and winters in Boca Raton, Florida), and skiing in Vermont. She took full advantage of her life and truly embodied joie de vivre.
Toni passed away at age 82 on November 7, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Frank) and Jack (Ann), and her grandchildren, Amanda, Connor, Katherine, Tyler, and Emily. She is also survived by her brother Eugene (Pat), devoted niece, nephew, grandnieces and grandnephew, and many wonderful cousins and friends. She will be forever loved and missed.
