Richard Crawford Wiedersum, 75 of St. James, NY and Highland Beach, FL passed away peacefully September 26th, 2017 in Florida surrounded by his family.

Richard was a proud third generation Architect in a family business established by his grandfather in 1926, Wiedersum Associates of Hauppauge, NY.

Richard was born on November 12th, 1941 in Lynbrook, NY. Son of Frederic G. and Fairfax Crawford, and was raised in Bay Shore, NY. He graduated from St. Frances Prep, Spring Grove, PA in 1960.

On February 8th, 1962 he married Beatrice Waine and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s of Architecture, they moved back to Long Island and raised their family in Smithtown and St. James, NY.

Richard was an avid sailor and yachtsman. He and his wife traveled many miles from New York to Florida and many places in between with dear friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Beatrice Wiedersum, proud Father to son Richard W. and wife Maureen, daughter Donna and husband Michael Simpson, son Bryan F. and wife Ardis, six cherished grandchildren, Michele, Kevin, Nicole, Michael, Bryan and Mason, sister Condé and Husband Joe Loeffler, and many other dear family members and special friends he always called family.

Please join us on Friday, October 6th at St. James Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:30-9:00pm. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, October 7th at St. Phillip and James Catholic Church in St. James, NY at 10:00am.
