Obituary

Dr. Muhammad Abul Husain Moral was born on October 1st, 1933 in Khulna, Bangladesh. He was the son of the late Munshi Basithullah Moral and Mehrunnessa Moral. He completed his Bachelor of Science at Dhaka University in 1957.  He then went on to complete his Doctorate of Public Health at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in 1959. Subsequently, he completed his M.B.B.S in Dow Medical College in 1963.

After graduation, Dr. Moral served as District Health Officer in Khulna from October 1963 to August 1964. He then immigrated to the United States to complete his clinical training. He served as Instructor in Pulmonary Disease at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY from July 1973 to June 1975. He was an Internist at Segundo Ruiz Belvis Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Bronx, NY from July 1975 to June 2009. In addition, he was a Hospitalist at Franklin Hospital Medical Center in Valley Stream, NY from July 1968 to January 2017.

Dr. Moral is survived by his loving wife of 52 years – Mrs. Rashida Husain Moral. He has three beautiful children who share in his lifelong passion of serving the health and wellness of the community. His eldest daughter Dr. Zebunnessa Husain Moral is a dentist. His second daughter Ummulkhaier Moral Singh is a mental health clinician. His youngest child and only son Dr. Muhammad Zubaier Moral is an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Dr. Moral championed education, philanthropy, and community outreach – in the United States and in his native land of Bangladesh. For nearly 35 years, he has been a beacon of hope to the medically underserved community of the South Bronx. In addition, he served the people of Long Island for nearly 50 years  with his clinical expertise to provide care in the inpatient setting.

Beyond his storied career in the United States, Dr. Moral's primary passion was to improve the welfare of his impoverished native countrymen. He founded several mosques, opened orphanages, and established Islamic schools in Bangladesh. In the United States, he was a primary benefactor to the founding of several mosques.  Dr. Moral contributed his time, resources, knowledge, and skills to improve society at large. He did so with deep piety and great humility.
