Alfred grew up on Arthur Ave. in the Bronx where he attended Grace Dodge High School.  He knew he would be drafted so he decided to join the Army in 1958.  He was active duty for two years in the Army and then he was in the Reserves for nine months and got married to Beatrice.  He went back to the Bricklayers Union, Local 34 in Manhattan, when they reactivated him again, because of the Cuba Missile Crisis.  He then spent another two years as a demolition expert trained in explosives.  After spending another two years active duty, he was discharged in 1964 and went back to the Bricklayers Union.  He worked on many high rises in Manhattan, including the World Trade Center.  Alfred's job was to read blueprints, measure everything out and lay the first course of brick for the other bricklayers to follow.  Alfred and Beatrice moved to St. James where they bought a house and had a son, Al Jr.

Alfred enjoyed attending his son's High School and College football games.  He traveled to all of them even the ones out of state.  Alfred was in the Bricklayers Union for 42 years and retired at the age of 62.  He enjoyed his retirement with his wife Beatrice, they traveled the world and enjoyed taking cruises.  He also enjoyed spending time with his lovely daughter in law Debbie and his grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexa.  He loved watching them grow, attending their games, going to the parks and sharing funny stories.

Alfred was a family man who adored his wife, Beatrice.  He was a fighter to the end with a determination to live life to the fullest.  He will be sorely missed.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Beatrice, his son, Al, daughter in law, Debbie and grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexa.
