Ali Azmoun, of Southold, New York, passed away on April 2, 2021, at the age of 71, after a nearly three-month battle with COVID. He is the son of Abbas and Ozra Azmoun and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wendy, and his three children, Babak (Amy), Roddy (Maureen), and Bijan. He had five loving grandchildren, Aydan, Addison, Natasha, Wyatt, and Graham. He is preceded in death by his dear older brother, Atta, and survived by his beloved brother and sister, Houshang and Anvar, his affectionate nieces and nephews, and many cousins to whom he was very close.

Ali was born in Isfahan, Iran, came to the U.S. at the age of 15, and attended Flushing High School. Ali and Wendy met at college in 1969, after which Ali went on to earn a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Stony Brook University and later obtained his MBA. The couple fell in love and got married after returning to Iran in 1973, where their first two sons were born. In 1982, the family returned to the U.S., where their third son was born. Ali then began a successful 35-year-long career at Estee Lauder, where he eventually became the Director of Process Engineering.

Ali was devoted to his family and happiest while entertaining and mingling with friends and loved ones at his Long Island home in Sea Cliff, and later in Southold. He was a talented engineer who spent his retirement days enthusiastically laboring on various large- and small-scale home-improvement projects. Ali was also very fond of his Persian heritage and would delight in teaching his grandchildren about his culture and sharing his traditions with friends. He loved to travel and experience different parts of the world but was happiest at home, where he continually looked forward to spending time with his cherished grandchildren. Ali was a proud and passionate person who demanded a lot of himself on a daily basis and always had ambitious plans for the future. Though he was taken too soon, we take comfort in knowing Ali lived a joyous life surrounded by a family for whom no day will pass without the thought of him.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to UNICEF (unicefusa.org) or any other emergency help organization that provides aid to people in war-torn regions of the world, as Ali frequently expressed his concerns and sympathy for the plight of these people and made many contributions on their behalf.
