Obituary

ALICE (Wroneicki) JERSZYNSKI

Alice Jerszynski was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York and was the very proud graduate of the Bishop McDonald High School.  Alice was married for 64 years to Joseph P. Jerszynski, who grew up in Elmhurst, Long Island, New York. Joseph predeceased Alice by 13 years and is interred at Calverton National Cemetery.

Alice and Joseph met while employees at the Cavalier Glassworks on Long Island and married in 1946 shortly after the end of World War Two. After marriage they lived in Brooklyn for 9 years and then moved to Bethpage, NY and bought their first and only house. In their later years Alice and Joseph moved in to their youngest son's home in St James, NY.

Alice was primarily a stay at home Mom for most of her married life but she worked as a bank teller for a time and as a Paste-up Technician at PhotoNews in Bethpage (A local newspaper).

Alice's joys in life were sewing, she was an accomplished seamstress; reading, she was a voracious reader; Polish cooking & baking and, most importantly, her three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Alice is survived by her son Peter  (Laura) Jerszynski of Naperville, IL, Christine (William) Bibeau of Haverhill, MA., Joseph (Maria) Jerszynski of Wake Forest, NC; her three grandchildren, Peter III (Kalynn) Jerszynski of Rochester, IL, Brian (Kimberly) Jerszynski of Naperville, IL, Matthew Burmeister of Shirley, NY; and her three great grandchildren, PJ Jerszynski, Madison Jerszynski and Abigail Jerszynski of Rochester, IL.

Alice was lovingly cared for for over eight years by the nuns at the St Josephs Home for the Aged in Huntington, NY and was reading her daily Newsday newspaper up until the day before she was rushed to the hospital. After a very short stay in the hospital Alice was moved back to St. Josephs under hospice care and peacefully and mercifully passed in 6 days.

In lieu of flowers the family recommends a donation directly to St. Josephs Home for the Aged to assist the nuns in their loving vocation for the elderly.
