Obituary

We announce with sadness the passing of Anne Pell ~ wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Anne was born and raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn to parents Patricia and Patrick Pius.  She was the eldest of three daughters.  Anne was a graduate of Catharine McCauley High School in East Flatbush.  After High School she worked at John S. Swift Printing Company where she met John Pell.  Their first date was at the last Sunday game played at Ebbets Field.  They married in 1960.

After starting a family, they moved to St. James, Long Island.  Anne became involved with the church and school communities.  She was active in the Mills Pond Elementary School Band Parents Club and was also a Girl Scout Leader.  She was very creative and enjoyed ceramics, needlework and gardening.

She returned to work as a clerk at the local Five and Dime and eventually took other positions as a travel agent and a bookkeeper.

She enjoyed entertaining and hosted many family gatherings where all enjoyed her fabulous cooking.  When her time wasn't occupied by entertaining and school events, she loved traveling and was fortunate enough to have visited Tokyo, Singapore, Hawaii, Alaska and England and also cruised to many other destinations.

She is survived by her husband John, her daughters Jeanne Sandler and Lauraine Pell-Yee and her son John (Lisa), grandchildren Danielle Sandler, William Sandler, Jacque Moon Yee, Hannah Pell, Jude Yee and Jack Gregory Pell.

She is also survived by her sisters Marie Martinetti and Joan Legge (Mike) and nieces and nephews Christine Barrett (Sean), Michael Legge (Suzanne), Katherine McLennan (David) and Patrick Legge (Krista) and ten great nieces and nephews.
