William B. Rockwell, born in the Bronx in 1933 during the height of the Great Depression, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day.

Raised in Queens, New York, by his parents Alfred and Clementina Rockwell, alongside his sister Helen, Bill's early years were shaped by resilience and family bonds.

In 1953, Bill proudly joined the Army Signal Corps, serving honorably as a Specialist 3rd class in West Germany. Upon his return to the United States, he brought back a 1956 VW Beetle and married his sweetheart, Eleanor Marie Smith. Together, they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage, living in Queens, Brentwood, Stony Brook, and finally Port Jefferson Station, New York. Eleanor preceded him in death eight years ago.

Bill and Eleanor raised two sons, John (born in 1961) and William Joseph (born in 1964), who were central to their lives. Known for his innate tinkering, engineering and technical skills, Bill enjoyed a successful career as a telecommunications director for various firms, including his own. His "persuasive" powers and love of conversation made him a natural in his field.

An avid Knicks fan, bowler and coin collector, Bill had a knack for connecting with people through his passions and experiences. Those who knew him will remember his sharp mind, quick wit, and the joy he brought to every conversation.
