Obituary

Elizabeth Gasparro passed away peacefully on June 28,2024.

Elzabeth was born on March 2, 1930 to Santo and Jennie LaRocco, She grew up on Monroe St in Manhattan with her 7 siblings, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Elizabeth had happy memories of her grandfather who always gave her a quarter each time she went to see him at his home in South Beach.

South Beach is also where she met the love of her life Mario Gasparro.  They starting dating and then Mario went off to war.  While home on leave, Mario proposed and they were married a year later on September 19, 1953.

After living with her father for a year, they moved to Astoria, Queens where her father in law had purchased a two family home. They lived on the main floor and Marioś sister Nettie and her family along with Marioś father lived above them. They lived there 18 years and were blessed with 3 children, Eugene, Robert and Dawn.

They moved to Plainview and made a beautiful life, raising children, hosting holidays and Sunday dinners.  Elizabeth loved to cook especially for her family.

As time passed, her children were married and their life became more complete when their 8

grandchildren came along.  They were the highlight of her life.  The family continued to grow when they were blessed with twin great grandchildren, unfortunately, Mario passed away 3 years later and her heart was broken. Her faith and the birth of 5 more great grandchildren helped to mend it.  She remained in her Plainview home for 8 more years where she found her independence, going to the gym, shopping, visiting friends and family.

Leeś health forced her to sell the Plainview home and move to an Independent Living facility.  There she reinvented herself yet again.  Meeting new friends, continuing her gym routine, joining prayer group, bingo and enjoying her Irish coffee every Wednesday night.

Lee would like to be remembered as a good mother and grandmother and that she certainly  was. The love she was shown right to her death is something that the family will always cherish. It was a wonderful life.
