Elizabeth
Reardon
Jun 24, 1942 — Dec 25, 2023
It is with loving memories that we sadly announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Mary Reardon on Christmas morning December 25, 2023, at St. Johnland Nursing Home, Kings Park, NY. Betty was born in the Bronx, NY on June 24,1942, to James Joseph Reardon Jr. and Miriam Elizabeth (Daley) Reardon. She resided for most of her life in Elmont and Valley Stream, NY.
Betty was devoted to her family. She was always there for her parents, especially in their later years, and for her siblings and extended family.
Betty had a wonderful Catholic education including attendance at Cathedral High School in Manhattan, NY where she developed knowledge and skills that served her well during her life. Betty began her life of service working for Bishop Fulton J. Sheen who served as Director of the Society for The Propagation of the Faith in New York City, which supports missionaries and the poor of the world. She later served with Catholic Charities of Long Island - Franklin Square Senior Center providing care for the seniors. Betty was a wonderful, charitable, and religiously devoted person who triumphed over some of the difficulties of life and set an example for many others. Her charity and love of God was also evidenced by her selfless devotion of more than 40 years helping others with similar challenges. Her family knows she was received with joy by our dearly departed and our Savior in Heaven.
Betty will be deeply missed by her siblings Kathleen T. (Reardon) DiPersio, Gerard V. Reardon, Dennis P. Reardon, Michael J. Reardon, MD, her brothers and sisters-in-law, her cousins Sister Ann Nielsen and Kathleen (Crane) Kosmas, and 25 nieces and nephews, including the oldest, Maureen (DiPersio) Happle, who was devoted to her Aunt Betty throughout her life, and faithfully supported Betty in her final journey. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings James J. Reardon, MD, Kevin D. Reardon, and Suzanne H. (Reardon) Eng, RN
