Geraldine
Bindert
Mar 26, 1937 — Oct 11, 2023
St. James
Geraldine Bindert was born March 26, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, to Catherine and William Garrett. She was the fourth born of her parents' six children. Geraldine is survived by her sisters Kathleen and Mary Ann. She is predeceased by her sisters Joan and Patricia and her brother Thomas.
While attending Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn and holding a part-time job at a bank, Geraldine met her future husband, Robert. They married in October 1955 and celebrated 57 years together before Robert's passing in 2013.
Geraldine and Robert bought their first home in Bethpage, NY in 1962, where they raised their two children, Carol and Brian. They attended St. Martin of Tours in Bethpage for more than three decades before moving to Nissequogue, New York. Geraldine took great pleasure in spending time with her large extended family. As a homemaker, she was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed hosting family and friends for many celebrations. Geraldine gifted her family with many special holiday memories and traditions.
In later years, Geraldine worked at the American Institute of Physics and the law firm Van Nostrand and Martin PLLC. She and Robert welcomed a daughter-in-law (Kathleen) and son-in-law (Raymond), and later a grandson (James) and granddaughter (Christina). Geraldine was strongly committed to helping others and often did so in both her family and professional roles.
Geraldine and Robert frequently vacationed in Disney World, delighting in the warm weather and Disney magic. Geraldine particularly enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm for all things Disney with her grandson, James, and granddaughter, Christina. Special memories were created for the entire family during a Disney World celebration of Geraldine and Robert's 50th wedding anniversary in October 2005. Geraldine was loved by and will be missed by her children, grandchildren, and many extended family members.
