Gerard Thomas Loughran, 86, died peacefully at his home on Saturday July 10. He was survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Helen Loughran and their seven children; Gerard (Gayle), Bill (Sherrie), Ken, Matt, Mark, Helen (Randy) and Katherine (Chris); six grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Brianna, Thomas, William, Maxwell, Erica, Nathaniel and Nicholas; brother Ken Loughran and sister Linda Loughran. He was in the Navy (special skills), then Grumman, in the aerospace division, for almost 40 years when he retired. He was a person that never liked to sit still, he started running in his 40's and proceeded to run 10 marathons then a half a dozen half marathons before he hung his running shoes up. He would take annual trips with the family out to West Virginia to see his brother and mother, and then the annual trip to Robert Moses. He volunteered as assistant coach on various sports teams his kids played on as well as travel teams. He was kind, patient, knowledgeable, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was liked by all who met him, he will be missed.
