Israel “Izzy” Wagman

May 10, 1933 – September 10, 2026

Israel “Izzy” Wagman passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 93.

Izzy was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Beatrice, and a caring stepfather to Joel, Bruce, Bobby, and Elaine. He was a fun stepgrandfather to Alissa, Justin, Adam, Jason, Nicolette, Andrew, and Brandon, a kind uncle to Steven and Renee, and the cherished son of Dora Rosenbaum.

Izzy worked for the United States Postal Service at the Main Center in Manhattan for most of his life. He was a hardworking and dependable man who could always be counted on. If Izzy said he was going to do something, he did it.

His kindness extended far beyond his immediate family. Izzy was known for helping others and quietly being there whenever he was needed. When Beatrice became ill, he devoted himself to caring for her and for her many beloved cats and dogs. He would drive Beatrice from Staten Island to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, then continue all the way to Suffolk County so she could be comfortable staying with her daughter. He would then return to Staten Island to care for the animals before making the trip back to Suffolk County. It was simply who Izzy was—he took care of the people and animals he loved.

Izzy enjoyed family gatherings, good food, and the simple pleasures of life. He had an easygoing nature and a wonderful ability to go with the flow. He didn't need much to be happy and found enjoyment in simply being with family and sharing life's everyday moments.

Izzy will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, dependability, gentle spirit, and willingness to help others. He was a man his family knew they could always count on, and his absence will be deeply felt.

He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
