Obituary

Dr. John Christopher Gallo, aged 69, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022 surrounded by his family.  He was a proud resident of the Smithtown and Kings Park communities. John was born on October 26, 1952 in the Bronx, New York to Anna and Amelio as the oldest of six children.  The family moved to Kings Park when John was a teenager, where he attended St. Anthony's High School.  He then graduated from Stony Brook University with degrees in History and Spanish.  He later earned his doctorate in education administration from St. John's University.  John began his career in education in 1975 as a teacher of History and Spanish in the Smithtown Central School District, before eventually moving into administration as an assistant principal in the middle and high schools.  He proudly dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Smithtown Central School District by the time he retired.  As a member of the Kings Park community, John played a prominent role as a leader and coach in St. Joseph's Catholic Youth Organization sports programs for over 15 years. In retirement, he continued in his positions as Associate Professor at St. John's University and Western Governors University. John is survived by his loving wife Patricia and their blended family of children and their spouses; Christopher (Meghan), Andrew (Lindsey), Jennie (Joshua), Michael (Krystina), Erin (Robert) and Christian (Alecia); his adoring grandchildren Angel, Jules, Kelsey, Colin, Shane, Noah, Peyton, James and Ryan (due to arrive later this year); brother and sisters Paul (Joanne), Virginia (Woodrow), Anne (the late Matthew), Christine (Brian) and Teresa; as well as, nieces, nephews and a great nephew.  He is predeceased by his beloved parents Anna and Amelio.
