Mary Helen
Ryan
d. Sep 22, 2025
Mary Helen Ryan, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025. Mary was nearly 90 years old and spent her last days peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her loving husband Tom and her family at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson, New York.
Mary was born on December 5, 1935, and grew up in Queens with her dear sister Jeannie and her loving parents, Anna Maria and Joseph Pfeiffer. While attending St. John's University, Mary met the love of her life, Tom Ryan. After graduation from college, Mary worked at 30 Rockefeller Center in NYC at Avon Headquarters. Mary and Tom married in 1957 and moved to St. James where they enjoyed 68 years of married life. Mary devoted herself to raising her four beloved daughters, doting on her ten beloved grandchildren, and volunteering at Sts. Philip and James Church where she was a devoted parishioner, Eucharistic minister, and secular Franciscan. Additionally, with Tom, she received her masters degree in theology from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception.
In addition to her devoted husband Tom, Mary is survived by her four loving daughters and sons-in-law: Jeanine (Peter), Tracy (Rick), Melanie (Ken), and Heather (Brendan), her ten grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Craig, Tom, Joe, Claire, Shannon, Gwyneth, Brendan, and Ciara, her beloved sister Jeannie, and many dear nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to the Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson for their extraordinary nursing and pastoral care which brought Mary and her family comfort and peace in her final days.
