Paul John Toto

Paul John Toto, 78, of Saint James, NY, passed away on August 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Paul lived a life defined by devotion, patience, and quiet strength—qualities he shared generously with his family, his students, his community, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born on August 15, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, Paul was the son of the late Ralph and Marie Toto. He pursued his passion for education with dedication, earning a Bachelor of Education from Stony Brook University, a Master's Degree in Higher Education from Adelphi University and an Administrative Degree from Hofstra University. Paul devoted his career to education as both a teacher and assistant principal, shaping countless young minds through his calm guidance, sharp intellect, and unwavering belief in the potential of every student.

Paul married the love of his life, Diane, in 1972, and together they built a home filled with devotion, laughter, and the kind of steady love that shaped every part of their lives. As they raised their three children, they embraced the world hand‑in‑hand, traveling to new places, discovering hidden corners of the globe, and turning every journey—whether a far‑off adventure or a simple shared moment—into a cherished memory that reflected the deep, joyful partnership they carried through all their years together.

Paul's commitment to others extended far beyond the classroom. As Scoutmaster of Troop 7, he mentored generations of Scouts, teaching them valuable skills, confidence, responsibility, and character—always leading by example.

Paul had a lifelong curiosity and an appreciation for the things that brought him joy. He loved reading, history, and collecting trains, planes, and coins. He cherished fishing with his grandsons and enjoyed skeet and target shooting, camping, scuba diving, and skiing with his children. Whether enjoying a good dinner, traveling the world with his family, spending time at the beach, or simply being surrounded by those he loved, Paul embraced life with gratitude and curiosity.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his children — Jason (wife Kelli, and grandchildren James & Makenna), Marc (wife Gosia), and Melissa (grandson DJ); and his sisters, Annette Weber and Andrea Walshe. He is predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Marie Toto.

Paul's legacy is one of love, guidance, and quiet strength—the kind that stays with you forever. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, educator, mentor, and friend who was always there for the people he loved. The lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on through his family and the countless lives he touched.
