Robert was born in Brooklyn, NY on Dec 11, 1939. Robert was the beloved son of Josephine and Robert J Clemente. Robert had one sister, Joan C Clemente.
Throughout his life, Robert was known for his keen attention to detail, vast knowledge, wonderful sense of humor, and kindness to all he met and knew. He attended Fordham University and St John's University where he obtained a Law Degree. He then Joined the United States Army where he received the Army Commendation medal and National Defense Service medal. Robert was appointed 1s* Lieutenant in 1964 and Captain in 1966.
Robert married Frances Palma Giordano on June 23, 1962, in Brooklyn, NY where they resided until they moved to Fort Monroe, Virginia where he was stationed. Frances and Robert had one son Neil Douglas Clemente. After the Army, Robert moved his family to Stony Brook, Long Island until 1983 when they moved to Nissequogue, LI. After he joined a law firm, Robert opened his own practice in Patchogue and later in Holbrook. Frances and Robert were very active in their community. He was also a member of the Nissequogue Village Board of Zoning Appeals and held a position of Village Trustee for three terms. He was also the Deputy Mayor of Nissequogue.
Robert played saxophone, clarinet, flute, and trombone. He later played guitar. Robert had a wonderful singing voice. He loved Jonny Mathis and other crooners and musicians like Glenn Miller from the big band era. Robert was happiest when he was on the golf course. He won many local tournaments. He was a proud member of the Nissequogue Golf Club.
Several years after Robert's wife passed, he met Gelsomina Baumann. They happily dated for several years until they decided to move in together and move down to Boca Raton, Fla. Robert developed an acute case of dementia and Gelsomina took him under her care until his recent passing. He will be greatly missed by Gelsomina and her three children, Raymond, Diana and Maria and their families.
Robert leaves behind son, Neil D Clemente, daughter-in-law Vincenza Clemente, and granddaughter Teresa Frances Clemente. Sister-in-law Rita Imbergio, and son-in-law John Imbergio.
