Ross Witt
February 24, 1970 – September 19, 2026
Ross Witt, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 56.
Born on February 24, 1970, Ross was raised in Roslyn, New York. From an early age, family was at the center of his life, and that never changed. Ross was the person you called when something needed to be fixed, when you needed a helping hand, or when you simply needed someone to be there. He was the glue that held his family together.
Ross spent many years working for the New York State Department of Transportation. He took tremendous pride in his work and was never afraid of hard work. Whether operating heavy machinery, repairing roads, clearing snow, or helping others, Ross gave everything he had to whatever was in front of him.
But his greatest work was the life he built with the people he loved.
Ross was a devoted father to Fiona and Dylan, who were the greatest loves of his life. He taught them to be strong, to be kind, to never take a day for granted, and to live life to the fullest. His children will carry those lessons with them for the rest of their lives.
Ross was also a loving son to his mother and father, Marlene and Mike, and a cherished brother to Gavin. He was a beloved uncle and a loyal friend who had a way of making people feel like family. His presence could fill a room, and his absence will leave a space that can never truly be filled.
One of Ross’s greatest accomplishments was his 18 years of sobriety. He chose a life of recovery, faith, love, and purpose, and in doing so, gave his family 18 years of memories, adventures, laughter, and time together that they will treasure forever. He showed the people around him what it meant to keep going, even when life was difficult.
Ross lived 56 years, but he lived more in those 56 years than many people could live in 90. He loved deeply. He worked hard so that he could adventure even harder with his family. He was always chasing the next concert or the next flight to a different island. He laughed, helped people, fixed things, showed up, and never stopped fighting for the life and people he loved.
Even through the hardest chapter of his life, Ross remained Ross. His strength and resilience were a reflection of the man he had always been.
He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will spend the rest of theirs carrying his love with them.
Ross is survived by his children, Fiona and Dylan; his mother, Marlene; his brother, Gavin; his nieces and nephew; and his many beloved family members and friends.
His life was a gift. His love was a legacy. And he will be missed for the rest of our lives.
