Obituary

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, Vincent Finnegan, loving husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend passed away at the age of 80.  Vin was a resident of Nissequogue, New York where he lived since 1979.

Vin was born on October 21, 1942 in the Borough of Manhattan and was the only child of Marjorie (Morgan) and Vincent Finnegan.  Vin was married to his beloved wife, Patricia (Stranis), for nearly 57 years and raised four sons, Vinny, Kevin, Patrick, and Michael.

Vin was raised in Woodside, Queens where he attended Bryant High School. It is there he built lifelong friendships and met his future bride as a young teenager.  Upon graduation from high school, Vin served honorably in the Marine Corps.  He then began his livelihood in the New York City Fire Department on March 16, 1968 where he served with dedicated firefighters from Engine Company 236.  After 20 years of a distinguished career, Vin retired as Captain on July 2, 1988.  Continuing with his steadfast work ethic, Vin built a successful profession at Certified Van Lines where he worked up until about ten years ago.

Vin was a devout Catholic who proudly displayed his Catholic faith and served as an example of great Roman Catholic tradition to his family and friends.

Vin is survived by his wife, Patricia, son Vinny and wife Maureen (Miller Place, NY), son Kevin and wife Jennifer (Sandy Hook, CT), son Patrick and wife Tammy (Saratoga Springs, NY), son Michael and wife Nicole (Saratoga Springs, NY), and nine grandchildren: Kevin, Siobhan, John, Dylan, Aidan, Justine, Roisin, Grace, and Jack.  He was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie and Vincent.

Calling hours will be Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 3 P.M. - 7 P.M. at St. James Funeral Home, 829 Middle Country Road, St. James, NY.

Rite of Christian Funeral will be Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10:15 A.M. at Saints Philip and James Roman Catholic Church, 1 Carow Place, St. James, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
