Adam D. Zazzera

Adam David Zazzera born September 16th 1967 at Huntington Hospital to Edmund Zazzera and Thelma Louise Finsen Zazzera. Adam was raised in Asharoken, Northport NY attended Norwood Ave. Elementary School, Knox School and graduated from Northport H.S. in 1985. During his teenage years Adam was a Smoke Eater at Northport Fire Department and served as a volunteer fireman on the Hook & Ladder and Rescue Squad from 1986-1989. He was on the NFD Scuba Team from 1988-1989. He studied Marine Biology in Southampton College graduating in 1991. Adam became a paramedic in 1994 and worked for St. Anne’s in NYC before joining Stony Brook Hospital in 1995 as a paramedic. Adam worked at Stony Brook Hospital for 27 years on the transport ambulances and as a member of Medical Control. For 17 years Adam was also a paramedic at Setauket Fire Department. Adam earned his solo pilot license. He also flew as a flight medic with the Suffolk County Police Aviation Department for 15 years. Adam was a devoted family man and considered EMS to be his second family.

At Stony Brook Hospital he met his wife Erin Carroll, an ER nurse. Erin and Adam married in 2004 and had 2 children Jack and Annie. Adam was a devoted father and husband. He loved animals and had many pets throughout his life. Growing up on Northport Bay he learned to sail with his father on their Cape Dory Typhoon. As an adult he enjoyed sailing his Pearson 30 out of Port Jefferson Harbor. Adam was a lifelong learner and loved to understand how things worked. His compassion and selflessness made him an exceptional friend, colleague, brother, son, husband and father.

Adam is survived by his wife Erin Carroll Zazzera, son Jack Zazzera, daughter Anne Zazzera and older sisters Elena Andrea Loscalzo (Robert Loscalzo) and Elisa Michelle Zazzera (James Conklin)
