Alfred W. Hill of Lake Grove NY passed away on June 30,2020 at the age of 94. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Alfred was the oldest of four children born to Lillian and Alfred.
Alfred served from 1943 to 1946 in The Pacific on an LCT as a Gunner’s Mate during WWII.
After returning home, Alfred started working for the Port Authority as a Bridge Painter before he joined the NYPD. Because of his experience as a bridge painter, he later became part of the Emergency Service Unit and went on to successfully complete many rescues. After retiring from the NYPD, he worked for years as an Iron Worker on many of the skyscrapers in New York including the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center.
Alfred leaves his wife of 67 years Catherine, children Cathy, Evelyn and Dan, grandchildren Kerri, Jim, Theresa, Joseph, Thomas, Catherine, Amanda, Jessica and Jaclyn and great grandchildren Katie, Annabelle, Michael, James and Jack.
