Alice V. Rasanen 91 of Nesconset, died unexpectedly after a brief illness August 28,2023. Alice was born in Mineola,NY to Karin and Arthur Peterson. She lived in a house that she designed and was built by her father, Arthur and her late husband Stanley A Rasanen.
Alice touched the hearts of many people over her 91 years. She was intelligent, generous and very talented. She opened her home to young and old who needed support during difficult times, often making a positive difference in their futures. She donated many quilts to Project Linus and Cozy Covers. Her sewing skills included upholstery, alterations and many beautiful quilts inspired by her travels.
Alice and Stanley were world travelers. They spend many years meeting and enjoying people from different cultures. Their travels included Russia,China, Japan,Africa,Turkey, Europe,Scandinavia and all 50 US states.
Her current pastimes included doing jigsaw puzzles on the iPad, sharing interesting and funny items on Facebook, 2 book clubs and meeting with the Off the Wall Quilters.
Stanley A. Rasanen died in July, 2012. She is survived by her daughter Diane Burnett (John) Peterborough,NH, her sons Harold Rasanen,Durham,NC and Wayne Rasanen (Joan) New Port Richey, FL and three grandchildren Christal Hutton (Chad) Raleigh,NC; Ashley Rasanen,New Port Richey, FL; Christopher Burnett Medford, MA
Sister-in-law Marilyn Peterson,(Charlie) Also many others who were special to her.
A celebration of life will take place at a future date.
