Anahit Tadevosyan Obituary

Anahit Tadevosyan Obituary

Anahit Tadevosyan passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with cancer. While her passing brings deep sorrow, her family takes comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and has reunited with her loved ones once more.

Anahit was born on May 1, 1948, in Armenia to Gurgen Manvelyan and Siranush Torosyan. She graduated from the Pedagogical University of Armenia and devoted her professional life to service and excellence. She began her career as a schoolteacher and later worked as an editor at the citynewspaper in Guymri, where she was known for her intelligence and dedication. In every role she held, she consistently excelled.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Benur Tadevosyan—her one and only love, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership and affection, even as they bickered lovingly each day—as well as her four children, Artur Tadevosyan, Hasmik and Joe Buzzetta, Sona and JeffreyTufenkian, and Aram Tadevosyan; and her cherished grandchildren, Isabella, Zoë, Joey, and Lailla, who were truly her life.

Anahit was also a beloved sister to Areta, Robert, Mikayel (who survives her), and Maro.

Anyone who met Anahit described her as sweet, kind, and deeply caring. But if her family had to capture her essence in a single word, it would be selfless. She never took—she only gave. Her entire existence was centered on nurturing and caring for others, and she did so tirelessly and without expectation. Even after losing her sense of smell and taste, she continued to cook with love and devotion, a reflection of who she was at her core. She was an exceptional and versatile cook, and food was one of the many ways she expressed her love.

During the brutal years of war in Armenia—when electricity, food, money, and basic necessities were scarce for nearly the entire population—Anahit and her husband created an orchard not for pleasure, but to provide for their family and survive hardship.

After relocating to Stony Brook, Anahit became especially close with Hasmik and Joe’s family and helped raise Isabella, Joey, and Lailla through their early years. She embraced this role with patience, tenderness, and joy, forming bonds that were as deep as they were enduring.
During the 2020 war, she volunteered with her friends at the Armenian Church to raise funds to provide much needed help to fellow Armenians. This period revealed her quiet strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her family and homeland.

Anahit’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever—through the love she gave so freely, the care she extended to all, and the lives she touched so profoundly.

For those wishing to say goodbye:
