“Angels can fly because they
take themselves lightly”
G.K. Chesterton
Anthony Aniello Casale was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1939. A photographer in the Navy, he sailed on the USS Saratoga based in Norfolk, Va where he met his loving wife, Joyce of 56 years. Later he worked as a prominent sports photographer at the New York Daily News and National Sports Daily. In retirement he worked in real estate at Remax in Setauket. Everyone knew Tony; he was a pillar of the community for nearly 50 years and could be found in all four corners of Setauket. Even mom would run into Tony everywhere except at home, but his favorite place to “shoot the breeze” was at Luigi’s, the local pizzeria.
He was an active member of the St. James RC Catholic Church, devoting many years to teaching religious education or volunteering at our Daily Bread. He established the Youth Mass, Consolation Group, Mens’ Club and the Chesterton Book Club at the Church. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and a Eucharistic minister with his wife Joyce. Dad was devoted to his faith, family, and friends and deeply loved by so many. He will be greatly missed.
Tony is survived by his wife, Joyce, his kids Anthony & Monica, Joseph & Regina, Regina & Joselo and Christina & Steve, his four grandkids, Jeronimo Anthony, Gaia Antonella, James Anthony and Liam Joseph, his Godson James and by his countless friends.
Contributions in his name can be sent to Our Daily Bread at St. James Church 429 Main Street, (Rt 25A) East Setauket, NY 11733.
