My mom, Barbara Kemper was born 10/19/1936 in Queens, NY. She lived in Rosedale and then Baldwin with her younger sister Gladys and her parents Harold and Irene Hurst. She married my Dad, Wally 5/5/1956. They went to Atlantic City for their honeymoon. They lived in Elmont. My Dad had a junkyard in Corona and my Mom stayed at home raising three Children, Jean, Gary and Lynn. Jean and Lynn got married giving my mom son-in-laws, Billy and Chris. My parents started a move to East Northport, then my Dad passed away. My mom continued her move to East Northport and lived there for the rest of her life.
My Mom also traveled to, Las Vegas and saw Hoover dam and took a helicopter ride over it, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Canada, Florida, California and also went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
My mom always wanted to fly so we got her a gift to fly a plane with an instructor of course. This made my Dad very nervous. My mom loved dogs, she always had dogs but as she aged, she was afraid she would not be able to give it the right care. When she was little her own doggie was put to go to war. She was heartbroken.
She loved her grand pups all of them but favored my dog Ozzy. It was her Ozzy-boy.
My mom loved to clean, I did not take after her in that category, planting her perennials, throwing stuff out, well after being married to a junk yard man who took the entire contents home with him when he retired, she couldn’t wait to throw out things. She was kind, caring, always there for you and the strongest woman ever and she would tell you like it is. She loved Elvis, the bee-gees and Adele.
She will be missed deeply by me Lynn, her surviving daughter, Chris, my husband and surviving son in law, friends, extended families Dilucchios, Hauners, Cantos, friends, and her grand pups, especially Ozzy boy.
