Carol Lozano Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Carol Lozano announces her peaceful passing on August 21, 2021, at the age of 94 years. She was a woman of independence, spirituality, and family. An immigrant from Bogotá, Colombia, in the 1950s, she worked hard to support her two sons in her favorite town of Queens, NY. She was a professional businesswoman in the NY fashion industry for over 30 years, working in finance. Her family in Colombia, although miles away, lived deep in her heart at all times. Her hard work and dedication to her family created a powerful impact on her two sons. Her love was abundant and overflowing for her sons and most affectionately to her grandchildren.
Faith was an essential part of her life. She dedicated her time to prayer during her later years. Her devotion to her faith was evident by the way she lived her life. Her gentle and kind heart was open to everyone she encountered. She put her trust in prayer, and she wouldn’t leave you without saying, “Vaya con Díos, mi Amor” as she gently smiled, pinched your cheek, and waved goodbye.

Grandma Carol was the matriarch of the Lozano family home. She touched the lives of everyone that walked into our front door. In the early years, you would see her walking along the block to take the local bus for a two-hour ride to the store in the next town, only seven minutes away by car. Or peep out the window to make sure the buses came to a complete stop to let her grandchildren off after school. We can’t say her cooking was the best, but we will always cherish her Thanksgiving potato salad. Her quiet time reading, drinking hot chocolate, a gentle touch on our shoulders, a story from her childhood in Bogotá, or the hours she took to fold all the laundry are a few of the memories that will bring warmth in our hearts as we remember Grandma Carol. Her prayers, love, and memorable moments she shared with all of us are etched in our hearts forever.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Rick Lozano and his wife Jennifer Cunningham-Lozano and Rene Lozano, grandchildren Alyse Rathjen, husband Justin Rathjen, Dion and Dylan, and great-grandchildren: Zoey, Carson, Rowan, and Aubrey; as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving grandson Stephen.
