Carol Napolitano (nee Mallon) passed away on December 21, 2023, joining her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Joe, who went before her in November 2020. Carol left us peacefully, in the house they adored, watched over by their three retired guide dogs.
One of Carol’s greatest loves was the hamlet of St. James, where she spent summers as a child and ultimately called it her year-round residence. She was extremely proud of her family’s deep roots in St. James, beginning with her grandfather’s, John Herbert, purchase of a large parcel of land after he survived the USS Maine disaster in 1898 and was discharged from the U.S Navy. St. James was, and remains, the home to five generations of John Herbert’s descendants.
Carol also had a great deal of “Irish Pride” and would boast of the fact that all four of her grandparents were born in Ireland. Carol was fortunate enough to visit the Emerald Isle one last time in 2021.
Carol was a graduate of Mary Immaculate School of Nursing and spent the majority of career as a pediatric nurse at United Cerebral Palsy. Caring for others, especially children, was her passion.
Carol is survived by her three sons, Joseph, Daniel, and Michael; two daughter-in-laws, Laura and Patricia; five grandchildren, Sophie, Madison, Noah, Cole, and Ella; and countless nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Those that knew her loved her. Goodbye Carol. “Sit long. Talk much.”
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Guide Dog Foundation, a passion of Carol and Joe’s.
