In Loving Memory of Carolyn McMahon
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Carolyn, a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and cherished friend, on January 18th. She was 64 years old.
A dedicated and compassionate RN, Carolyn worked for Northwell Health for over 30 years as a labor and delivery nurse, where her unwavering commitment to the care and well-being of expectant mothers and their newborns left an indelible mark on countless families. Her gentle touch, steady presence, and empathetic heart made her not just a nurse but a source of comfort for those in her care. She truly lived her calling, often going above and beyond to ensure every patient felt supported during one of life’s most profound moments.
Outside of her professional life, Carolyn loved her family, fishing, food and sports. Carolyn was known for her passion for fishing. Whether casting a line on Long Island Sound or embarking on fishing adventures with family and friends she found peace and joy. Her enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and she was always ready to share tips and tales from her latest catch.
A self-proclaimed foodie, Carolyn had a deep love for all things food! Whether it was shopping for food, experimenting with new recipes she learned from the Food Network, savoring a well-prepared tried and true turkey dinner with all the trimmings, working with passed down traditions of her mom and nana, food was a true passion.
Her warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Albert and Kathryn Hofmann and her brother Peter. She is survived by her sons Shaun and Ross, her siblings Richard (Gail), Suzanne (Camilo), and Barbara (John), many loving nieces and nephews, several loving cousins, many fabulous friends. Also survived by her ex-husband Terry.
Special thank you to the team at Northwell Health oncology who were dedicated to her care during this long journey for many years. Also thank you to the third floor at Luxor St. James for all their skilled care and dedicated compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Carolyn’s honor.
Rest in peace dear Carolyn, your love, compassion, and zest for life will forever remain in our hearts.
