Obituary

Catherine Levine "Cathy" was born on February 3, 1957. The 3rd of 4 children to Carl and Catherine "Kitty" Wirth. Even as a young child Cathy spoke to everyone and anyone, and was always full of life and love.

She met the love of her life Edward in 1980, and married Ed in 1985. Cathy and Ed always traveled to various islands in the Caribbean, going to so many concerts, and tons of Mets games as she was a diehard Met Fan and Gary Carter fanatic. She was a caring and devoted mother to Stephanie and Amanda. Cathy adored being a class mom for Stephanie and was famously known as "the cupcake lady" since she baked them for countless occasions, she also volunteered on many class trips, and helped with many fundraisers. As Amanda's mother she fought endlessly for Amanda to receive every service she needed for many years and found many resources and programs to make Amanda's life meaningful and wonderful. She loved when her "Son" Jason (Stephanie's husband) was added to the family and made sure call him every morning before he left for work with the traffic report, where he nicknamed her Momstar*. But most of all her greatest joy was becoming a "Nanny" to her grandsons Benjamin and Andrew. She enjoyed spoiling them with bags of snacks, dollar store toys/puzzles and she even loved to play playdoh with them! It was normal to see her on a slide in the park claiming to the top so she could slide down with "Her Boys"

She enjoyed her many years working at Brentwood Freshman Center and later on at Madonna Heights. She took great pride in educating and guiding teenagers onto to the path to success.

Cathy was a loving wife, mother, nanny, sister, friend, and coworker to a group of dedicated people. Cathy touched so many lives. She truly made a difference. Cathy always said if she could change the path of one student, that would be a win. There were many wins and success stories. Cathy fought a courageous battle with cancer which took her from this world way to soon but her light will shine in all of us.
