Donald W. Considine, 87, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Donald served as a United States Marine during the Korean War.  He then became a Police Officer with the Port Authority of NY/NJ, serving at the Holland Tunnel and then John F. Kennedy Airport until he retired.  Later, he worked in security for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Manhattan.

Shortly after marrying the “girl next door”, Veronica Glynn, on April 11, 1953, they took up residence in Lindenhurst, N.Y. where they raised their family.  They were both active in their church and school community. After retirement, they split their time between Long Island, New Jersey, and then Lady Lake, Florida, where Donald lived until 2016, when he returned to live in N.J.

Don was active in his parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church in Lindenhurst. He served as the Blood Bank Donation Coordinator for the Holy Name Society and was a choir member and cantor at Sunday mass. Although always shy about singing publicly, he had a terrific voice. He was always a good athlete, playing on his police softball team and in a local weekly bowling league. After the baseball Dodgers left Brooklyn, he became a lifelong Cardinal’s fan. He helped coach CYO softball teams for his daughters as well.

Donald is predeceased by his beloved wife Veronica (Glynn) and is survived by his three adoring daughters, Rita Zarabara (Nicholas) of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Regina Zack (Peter) of St. James and Nancy Considine of Ronkonkoma. 

“Pop” also leaves six grandchildren, Theodore and Matthew Zarabara, Jillian, Kaitlyn and Taylor Zack and Peter Montana.  His unique sense of humor and ability to always see the positive and ironic in every situation will forever be etched in their memories.

He enjoyed reading newspapers, listening to music, attending theatre and watching television. He was dedicated to his family, attending plays, dance recitals, father-daughter dances, and sporting events for both his children and grandchildren.

His broad smile, corny jokes and never-ending support and caring for his family will be missed.
