Dorothy Ann Keesser, formerly of Port Charlotte, joined her husband, John, in heaven on April 10, 2022. She passed peacefully with family by her side, two months shy of her 101st birthday. Dorothy was born June 13, 1921, in Richmond Hill, Queens, to Gustav Schoenthaler and Elizabeth Appel Schoenthaler. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1939, married John in 1944, and lived in New Jersey before moving to East Northport in 1954, where she and John raised their family. Dottie and John moved to Port Charlotte, FL, in 1981, where they enjoyed Florida living. During her time in Port Charlotte, Dottie became an avid golfer. She rarely missed a day on the course and even managed several holes-in-one. Dottie lived an independent life and was an enthusiastic Bingo participant and card player. Dottie spent the last two years of her life closer to her daughter in New Jersey.
John, her husband, Florence Eckerle, sister, and daughter-in-law Susan predeceased her. Dottie was a devoted mother to Jack Keesser and Janet (Jack) Meehan. Precious Nana to Jack (Michele) Keesser, Donna Keesser, Susanne Keesser Alexander, Michael Keesser and Janine Meehan (Ted) Perez, and Sean (Emily) Meehan. Dottie was Great Nana to many: Nicholas Boyle, Rowan, Liam and Aerin Keesser, Kelly Ann, Ryan, Meghan and Thomas Perez, Sam and Elijah Alexander, and James and Maeve Meehan.
