In Loving Memory of Elizabeth McBride Mataban
Elizabeth McBride Mataban, a cherished soul who brought light and warmth to everyone she met, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024 at the age of 86. Born on December 12, 1937, in the Philippines, she was a beloved daughter of Joe McBride and Aurora Lazarito McBride. She was the oldest of two children with her sister Elnora surviving her.
Elizabeth married the late Benigno Acosta Mataban in 1968 and several years later had their first child Josephine Michelle. Elizabeth, Ben and Michelle moved from the Philippines to New York for a better life in 1973 and soon after had two sons Mark and Maurice.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth or as some called her Ely was known for her incredible kindness, unwavering support, and boundless generosity. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her home was always open, filled with the aroma of delicious meals, heartfelt conversations, and the sound of laughter.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, dance and crack jokes. Her family was her pride and joy and dedicated her life to nurturing them. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Elizabeth is survived by Daughter Michelle, Son-In-Law Lance, Granddaughters Ava, and Veronica. Along with Elizabeth’s two sons, Mark and Maurice. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
