Eugene Gagliano Obituary

Eugene Gerard Gagliano, age 95, of St. James, NY, peacefully went home to rest on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Gene was born on June 17, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Paul and Anastasia (Hughes) Gagliano. He graduated from St. John’s University in 1952 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and then advanced to St. John’s University School of Law. He was proud to serve his country as a Military Intelligence Specialist in Germany with the U.S. Army and also served in the Naval Reserves

On May 6, 1961, Gene married Elaine (Sinnema) Gagliano.Together, they were blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Elaine, of St. James, NY; son Jeffrey (Terry) Gagliano of Stratford, NJ; daughter Susan Vosler of West Nyack, NY: son Dennis (Linda) Gagliano of Fuquay-Varina, NC; son Eugene P. (Cindy) Gagliano of Port Jefferson Station, NY; daughter Christine (Glen) Schipf of Alpharetta, GA; son Douglas (Jaci) Gagliano of Whittier, CA. Grandpa to twelve grandchildren, Danielle, Jason, Charissa, Allison, Andrew, Thomas, Ryan, Matthew, Katelin, Kyle, Patrick, Emily and one great grandson Owen. He is predeceased by brothers Frances Gagliano, Alfred Gagliano and sisters Geraldine Ross, Eileen Mahoney. Cherished Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Gene was a man of strong Catholic faith and a dedicated member of St. Philip & James Roman Catholic Church, where he served as head usher for decades.

He was deeply committed to his family, always protective and supportive. He enjoyed time spent on family vacations, whether camping across the United States, apple picking upstate NY, or enjoying the ocean at Seaside Park, NJ. He also loved being on his boat on the Long Island Sound, teaching his children to water ski.

He mentored many children as a St. James Little League coach, instilling in them the values of teamwork and sportsmanship. He was always present at his children's sporting events, and always ready to lend a hand and support in any way he could.

In addition to his family and volunteer work, he had a knack for fixing things. He could repair anything to keep his home running smoothly and had a talent for making mechanical devices work indefinitely.

We will love and miss him forever.
