In Loving Memory of Eunice Figueira Tavares (“Vovó”)
October 22, 1938 – March 21, 2026
With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we celebrate the life of Eunice Figueira Tavares, affectionately known to all as Vovó. Born on October 22, 1938, in Belém, Brazil, to Teodosio de Andrade Figueira and Raimunda da Silva Figueira, Eunice spent her early years surrounded by the rich culture, warmth, and traditions of her homeland, roots she carried proudly throughout her life.
At the age of 22, Eunice made the courageous journey to the United States, beginning a new chapter marked by determination, resilience, and hope. It was there that she built a beautiful life centered on family. She married and became the devoted mother of two sons, Daniel and Fernando Tavares, who were her pride and joy.
Her legacy grew through her family. She leaves behind her beloved sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Ruth Tavares, and Fernando and Marina Tavares. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Fernando Tavares Jr., Kitiara Tavares; Diana Felix and her husband Nick Felix; Daniel Tavares and his wife Allie Vaughan; Rebecca Tavares and her husband Daniel Moriarty; Rachel Walling and her husband Nick Walling; Alexandro Tavares, and Gavriel Tavares. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren David Allen, Jubal and Delilah Tuohy, and Daniel Tavares Jr.
Family was the center of Eunice’s world. She was a woman of remarkable strength and passionate spirit, steady in her love, generous in her care, and unwavering in her devotion. She gave of herself freely, whether through comforting words, warm meals, heartfelt prayers, or simply her presence. To her grandchildren, she was a source of wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. To friends and extended family, she was a pillar - strong, compassionate, and deeply cherished.
Her life was a testament to courage, faith, sacrifice, and the enduring power of family, and she passed surrounded by loved ones. Though she will be profoundly missed, her love lives on in the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.
Forever our Vovó. Forever in our hearts.
