Faith L. Cook (née Naigraw)
May 3, 1949 – July 18, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Faith L. Cook, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on July 18, 2025 at the age of 76.
Faith was the beloved daughter of Walter and Edith Naigraw. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Dennis Naigraw, and her sister Patricia Pess. Born and raised in Queens, New York, Faith embodied the strength, humor, and resilience that defined her generation. She was a woman of deep faith, guided throughout her life by her devotion to the Lutheran Church, where she found both solace and community.
For over 50 years, Faith shared a devoted marriage with her beloved husband, Ed. Together they built a life full of love and laughter. She was the proud mother of two daughters, Tara and Jennifer, whom she raised with tenderness, unwavering support, and a healthy dose of her signature sharp wit. Her love only deepened as her family grew to include four grandchildren—two spirited little girls, Vivien and Valerie, and two older, wonderful grandsons, Gilbert and Preston—each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Faith was a talented artist and craftswoman, but her greatest work of art was the impact she had on generations of children as an assistant teacher for nearly 30 years at St. James Lutheran Preschool. In the classroom, she was a patient guide, a steady presence, and a quiet champion of young minds. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, both in and out of school.
Although she appeared quiet, Faith had a sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humor—always ready with a quick one-liner that could catch you off guard and bring laughter to the room. She also had a special gift for making the everyday magical. Faith created joyful traditions that her family will always cherish, especially the road trips, which became treasured memories and reflections of the love and care she poured into family life.
Faith is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward Cook; her daughters Tara Cavanagh and her devoted husband Frank, and Jennifer Quiles and her devoted husband Gilbert Jr.; and her cherished grandchildren Gilbert III, Preston, Vivien, and Valerie, who were the joy of her life.
She will be remembered for her love of family, her generosity, and the quiet strength with which she supported those she loved. She created a home filled with laughter, kindness, and hand-crafted joy. And she leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who cherished her, and a community forever shaped by her grace.
She was one of a kind, and she will be missed beyond measure.
