Gaspare Piazza Obituary

Gaspare S. Piazza, 96, passed away peacefully in his home on January 6, 2025 surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

 

Gaspare was born on October 29, 1928, in Brooklyn NY, to Simone and Francesca Piazza. He was the youngest of seven children.

    Gabe, as he was known to family and friends, proudly served his country, enlisting at age 17, and served as a WWII Navy Seaman 1. He served on the USS Tucson and USS Moale, Spending time in Alaska, China, Hong Kong and Japan.

When he came home from the Navy, he pursued the love of his life - his cousin Lucy's best friend, Emily. They were Married on February 26, 1950 and moved from Brooklyn to Long Island.  They had two children, Simone and Lynda.

Gabe was an entrepreneur - he loved starting up and running businesses. First luncheonettes, then delicatessens, and finally finding his way into the automotive industry, opening up multiple family-run Firestone stores. He ran these businesses until his retirement in 1990.

At the time of retirement, Gabe and Emily began their whirlwind tour of the world.  They both loved to travel - and travel they did. They went all over the globe and came back to share stories of the places they had been and the adventures they went on.

Gabe was a true family man, always putting family first. He was protective and caring.   

Gabe is predeceased by his parents, Simone and Francesca Piazza; his beloved wife, Emily Piazza; his brother Nicholas (w.Mary);  Sister's Mae (h. Lou), Adele (h. Ralph), Angelina, Angie (h. Vito), Joan (h. Pat); and Nephew Simone (w. Marilyn).

Gabe is survived by his son, Simone Piazza; his daughter, Lynda Dalrymple, and her husband, Roy Dalrymple; his nephew, Lindsay Piazza, and his wife Rosemarie Piazza; his grandchildren, Justin Dalrymple, Donna Piazza, Nicole Flick, and her husband Stephen Flick, Christopher Dalrymple and his wife Laura Dalrymple, Gabrielle Stevens and her husband Justin Stevens, Emily Dalrymple

and Marc Dalrymple, and Beatrice Madau; and great grandchildren D'Angelo Jarvis, Dessa Jarvis, Dexter Jarvis, Leo Stevens, Stella Flick, Mia Stevens, Shelby Flick, Stephen Flick, Nico Stevens, Emily Flick and Nathan Dalrymple.
