James A. (Jim) Lynch, 85, of St. James, NY passed away on April 20, 2020. Born in 1934 to Winifred and James Lynch and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jim eventually settled on Long Island to raise his family. Loving husband of Charlotte, beloved father of Jimmy (Denise) Lynch of Smithtown, NY; Maureen (Andrew) Meyer of Ridgewood, NJ; and Christine (Brian) Posner of Travelers Rest, SC. Loving grandfather of Erin, Patrick and Jack Meyer. Beloved uncle of Chuck (Rose) Donner and Michailah and Zach Donner. Predeceased by sisters Mary and Peggy.
Jim was a US Navy veteran and had a successful career as a conductor on the Long Island Rail Road. During his retirement years he spent his time doing the things he loved. Travel, golf and family were his passions. He enjoyed vacationing in Cape May and Myrtle Beach and loved to take a cruise. Jim was an avid writer who crafted an original children's story each Christmas which he read aloud to the family while wearing his Kris Kringle hat. He loved football, especially the NY Jets. Jim loved a good meal and was a lifetime member of the Clean Plate Club. He enjoyed a good joke and had an infectious laugh. He enjoyed exploring Long Island and learning about its rich history, taking frequent drives out east frequenting familiar landmarks and discovering new places of interest.
A private service will be held at St. Patrick’s cemetery on April 25th.
