James D. Maher, 96, of Stony Brook, N.Y. formerly of Rosedale, N.Y. died October 13, 2023. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mildred. They had six children, James (Arlene), John-deceased (Charlene), Thomas (Josephine), Michael (Patricia), Edward (Catherine) and Patrick (Jean). James also had twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was born and raised in Manhattan, N.Y. and is predeceased by his five siblings. He was a WW II Army veteran and also a policeman with the N.Y.P.D. James was a member of the F.D.N.Y. and retired with the rank of Battalion Chief; he was forced to retire after a line of duty injury. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, boating, fishing and traveling.
