John Joseph Burke

John Joseph Burke, 82, passed away on January 7, 2026. John was born in Woodside, Queens, and spent most of his life on Long Island with his wife, Vivian, where they raised their children together. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian; his three children, John, Susan, and Michael; his son-in-law, Bruce; his daughter-in-law, Maureen; his five grandchildren, Calista, Catherine, Elizabeth, Emma, and Ellie; and his sister, Marilyn.

John worked as an insurance salesman for New York Life before venturing out on his own to form an insurance agency. He later moved into real estate and formed a real estate development company. He loved to read, talk about his favorite authors and was an avid sports fan who passionately rooted for the Yankees and Celtics. He was known for his dry sense of humor and generosity—traits that will be remembered by all who knew him.
