John Domanick Obituary

John “Jack” Domanick On December 16, 2018, Jack lost a long, hard-fought battle with diabetes (and corresponding complications) at the age of 69.  He passed peacefully surrounded by his family.  Jack had a lengthy career of community service and helping others.  He retired from the 106th Air Rescue and Recovery Group, and went on to have a distinguished career with the Nassau County Police Department.  He retired after 26 years, spending the majority of his time within the Aviation Unit, but finished out his career in the Records Bureau.  Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Patricia, as well as his three children and their spouses, Kelly/Rudi, Kevin/AnnMarie, and Tim/Kerry.  He has five healthy and loving grandchildren (over whom he doted), Sean, Ryan, Owen, Brian, and Ethan.  He has two loving siblings, his brother Bob and sister Carol.

Jack was always quick with an encouraging word, and was more concerned for the well-being of others.  He believed strongly in ensuring that others were copasetic.  He single-handedly supported many local businesses.  Early in life, he found his calling as a local entrepreneur.  He was multilingual; inventor of “Jack-a-Nese.”  No one ever entered his home without being showered in a drink of their choice (which he somehow always had on hand), as well as a hearty-heaping of Shnickle-Shnackles.  He put family and friends above all.  Frankly, all of us could, and should, learn from his example.  He brought others together, and will rest peacefully knowing that his final act was unifying others.  We will all miss our local “George Bailey.”   Nastrovia.  Details regarding arrangements to follow.
