Kelly Markey

Kelly M. Markey of Stony Brook, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 25, 2024.

Kelly was born on December 18, 1961 in Queens, NY and was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Markey. Starting from a young age, Kelly had an undeniable love for animals and the beach. She could often be found digging her toes into the sand or chasing sunsets somewhere, whether it was on the shores of Hawaii with her sister Shannon, the South Shore of Long Island, or her beloved hometown West Meadow Beach. 

Not only did Kelly love nature, but she was passionate about her family and friends. Kelly’s greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones and always providing them with her unique sense of humor and love. 

Kelly is survived by her loving husband, James Whalen. In addition, Kelly, a devoted mother and grandmother is survived by her three children, David C. Ulrich, Ryan M. Dumelle, Dean W. Ulrich, stepson James Whalen Jr., and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by three of her siblings, Shannon Matero, Shane Markey and Tracey Markey. Kelly is predeceased by her oldest sister, Erin Damm.
