Linda Ferrara Obituary

Linda Ferrara, 75 of Manorville, NY passed away surrounded by her family on May 24, 2023, after a decade long battle with breast cancer.

Linda was born on July 30, 1947, and was adopted at birth by Frank & Ann Milaney. She was raised in Astoria, NY and attended St. Joseph’s Secondary School.  She was an only child but always yearned for siblings and to be part of a big family.

In the summer of 1965, fate intervened on a family trip to Napeauge, NY where she met Vincent Ferrara.  They quickly fell in love and wed on March 5, 1966. They settled in Flushing, NY and continued to spend summers on the bay in Napeague as they raised their four children, Vinny, Alisa, John & Laura. Their love story stood the test of time, and they spent 48 happy years, surrounded, and supported by their children as well as Vincent’s big loving immediate & extended family.  Many of those happy years were spent on the bay in Napeague & Montauk, her ”happy place”, where Vincent & Linda ultimately called home.

In 2010, fate would intervene again when her birth family was found via a random Facebook search. In an instant, Linda when from being an only child to one of nine children. She didn’t have the opportunity to meet her birth parents, but she was able to connect with her siblings Burt, Peggy, Bonnie, Sandy, Joe, Bill, Mickey and Cheri. She spent the last years of her life getting to know them and built a beautiful relationship with the family that she always yearned for.
Linda is most remembered for her kind and welcoming spirit, her carefree attitude, and her generous heart. She made everyone feel at home and savored family gatherings.  She was an avid baker and found joy in creating the most beautiful and delicious cheesecakes for special occasions. She adored her dogs and treated them like her children, but she was most content being Nana.  She was fortunate to have been a young grandmother and spent many years loving and caring for them all.

After her beloved husbands passing in February 2014, Linda was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.  She has spent the last 9 years bravely battling the disease.

Linda is preceded in death by Vincent and is survived by her Children Vincent Jr. (Maggie), Alisa (Ramiro), John, Laura (Michael); her Grandchildren Gina, Joseph, Maria, Antonia, Olivia & Frankie; her Great Grandchildren Joseph & Mila; and her siblings Peggy, Sandy, Bonnie, Joe, Bill & Cherie.
