Lorraine Schweers (nee LeRoy)
Lorraine, a longtime resident of Centereach, entered eternal rest on January 26, 2022 at the age of 83. She was reunited with her beloved husband of 58 years, George. Together they raised 6 children and were blessed with 14 grandchildren. They spent their life together traveling, Friday family pizza nights, camping, and spending time with the family. Lorraine was a school bus driver in Smithtown and Patchogue and spent many years selling Avon. She was a longtime member of Assumption Church and the Rosary Altar Society. She loved genealogy and spent much of her time researching her family history and loved to talk about it with everyone. She is survived by her children, Kathy and Bill, George, Lorie, Roy, Maureen and Colleen. Sister to the late Rosemarie and Joe Hetterich, and Peggy and Jack Ashley. Her many nieces and nephews and all who knew her will always have the fond memories of their time with her.
A funeral mass will be held at Assumption Church on Tuesday February 1, 2022 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Cancer Society, American Lung Association or Good Shepherd Hospice.
