We celebrate the life of Marlene F Fleming, of Saint James NY who passed away on April 24, 2023 at the age of 87. Loving wife of her husband Alfred of 68 years, Beloved Mom to her children, Lorene (Gary) of Batavia NY, Donald, of Hicksville NY and Linda (Thomas) of Saint James NY.
Wonderful Grandma to Brian, (Dana), Marlene, (Max), Kaitlin, (Robert), Stephen, Thomas (Stephanie), and Shannon (John), and last but not least, Great Grandma to Althea, Eleanor, Everly and Amelia.
Marlene was born on September 13, 1935 in Springfield Gardens, Queens NY to Frederick and Anna Brookes (nee Smolski). Marlene was a Home Maker who focused all of her love, energy, and talent to creating a home for her family that was warm and welcoming to all who crossed the threshold. Mom was always there with sound advice, caring hugs, a home cooked meal, or a special treat fit for any occasion.
Marlene was a longtime resident of Levittown and a faithful and active parishioner of St. Bernard’s RCC. In those earlyyears she, along with our neighbors and friends, fostered a culture that was deep in faith and respect for each other and welcoming to all. Marlene carried on that tradition at Saint Phillips and James RCC when the family moved to Saint James in the late 1980’s only this time her focus was on her grandchildren whom she adored one and all.
Marlene was loved by her friends and cherished by herfamily including her many nieces and nephews who always knew they were in loving hands when Aunt Marlene was with them. Marlene was a kind and generous person who was dedicated to her family, her church and her country, and she was loved and respected by all who were fortunate to have known her. And like our Father, who passed away last summer, she too had a wonderful life!
We love you! You will forever be in our hearts and in our memories and we will miss you always!
