Patricia Henderson Fischer

Patricia Henderson Fischer, passed away after a long battle of lung cancer on March 24th 2020 at 63 years old.  Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a long time resident of Nesconset, NY.  ‘Patti’ was the loving daughter of the late James Henderson and Edith Henderson Reynolds. She was the cherished sister of Nancy Maillet and Brian Henderson and the beloved wife of Donald R Fischer of 16 years. Devoted mother of Melissa (John) Spadaccini and stepmother to Joy (Thomas) Fingleton and Sherry Fischer. Loving aunt too many nieces and nephews. Loving Grandmother (Mimi) to Scarlett, Lucas, Alexa, Andrew and Ali.  

As a young child, she had a very natural feel for horseback riding and she competed in the ring until the age of 18. Graduating from Smithtown High School East, she continued her education, while holding a full time job, ultimately earning an Associate’s Degree from Suffolk County Community College. Patti worked at Precise Appliance until she was about 35 years old. In 1995, she started with Abco Refrigeration where she met her beloved Donald.  They wed on April 19th 2003. Patti was with Abco for over 23 years and became the corporation’s first female branch manager.  She retired after a diagnosis of lung cancer in June of 2016.

During retirement, Patti enjoyed spending her time with her husband, Donald. She frequently attended sporting events to support the Grandchildren.  She also enjoyed swimming, taking cruises, reading, and walking with their two dogs. When she wasn’t home with Don, she was visiting family in New Jersey.   Patti attended numerous horse shows on the east coast and was an avid, life-long reader of Chronicle of the Horse.  Patti delighted in watching her family and friends succeed at the sport she loved. She will be “Forever in our Hearts.”  A celebration of her life will be planned in the future.
