Robert Jandris

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Steven Jandris—a beloved father, grandfather ("Old Man"), brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. Robert was called home to join his beloved wife, Marguerite; his parents, Ida and Louis; and his older brother, Louis, on June 9, 2026.

He is survived by his three children, Robert Jandris, Michelle Jennings (Kim), and Danielle Tagarelli (Scott), as well as his three cherished grandchildren, Zoe, Jack, and Dylan. While our hearts have been left shattered by his sudden passing, our souls are rich with memories of one of the finest and kindest men to have touched the lives of so many in his 77 years.

Born on August 7, 1948, in Astoria, NY, Robert led a life rich in accomplishments. In his youth, he loved singing a cappella on the corners of Queens with some of his best friends. He went on to graduate at the top of his Naval class, proudly serving his country for four years as a Radioman First Class, before dedicating over 30 years to Verizon and ultimately settling into a well-deserved retirement.

However, his most notable accomplishments were achieved through the titles of husband, father, and grandfather. A true family man, Robert selflessly dedicated his life to his household—supporting the ever-changing whims of Marguerite, coaching softball teams, chauffeuring children and grandchildren at a moment's notice, and cooking up the best barbecued chicken around, all while working full-time to ensure their every need was met.

At times, Robert was the "strong, silent type," often quietly observing and listening to others, but always quick to provide a logical perspective that he could back up with hours of lecturing and explanations. The rest of the time, he was a real-life Barney Rubble: carefree, goofy, quick-witted, a machine on the dance floor, and simply a joy to be around—even more so when a solid red wine or his preferred cordial was flowing.

Though his passing was sudden and heartbreaking, his unwavering love and insurmountable spirit will remain in our hearts forever. We hope those who knew him will always remember his contagious laugh, his deep love of family and friends, and the enviable spirit we now lean into to provide the light we need to move past this moment of darkness.
