Robert Ziegler Obituary

Robert “Bob” Ziegler of Saint James, NY passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on October 24, 1931, Bob married the love of his life, Carol Ziegler, and together they shared 71 years of marriage.

Bob is survived by his five children: Lynn (the late Robert “Bob” Ritter), Judie (Lyle), Susan (John), Steven (Debbie), and Robert; his eleven grandchildren: Brian, Caitlin (James), Steven (Rebecca), Samantha (Nicholas), Timothy, Thomas, Daniel, Ryan (Ashley), Julianna (Ricky), Alison (Preston), and Kyle (Hannah); and his eleven great-grandchildrens: Tyler, Brody, Tatum, John, Gavin, Jameson, Rue, Jude, Robin, Quinn, and Patrick, with two additional great-grandchildren expected in 2026.

Bob was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved wife, Carol Ziegler, who passed away on December 9, 2025, as well as his son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Ritter, and his grandson, Grant Ziegler, who predeceased him.

Bob lived a full life surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted family man and a hard worker, spending 45 years at A&P and taking great pride in building the home where his family was raised.

Bob proudly served the Saint James Fire Department starting in 1961. He held the position of Chief of Department from 1974 to 1975 and later served as Fire Commissioner from 1977 to 1997, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to his community.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, golfing, and watching sports. A devoted New York Yankees fan, he rarely missed watching a game and was always quick to comment on each play. After retiring, Bob and Carol spent their winters in Fort Myers, Florida, where they shared many happy memories together.

Bob will be deeply missed by his family and the Saint James Fire Department community but finds comfort in being reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife.
