Stanley C. Skiba, 87, of Newark, Delaware, died peacefully at home on May 28. He was a former resident of St. James, Long Island, New York and Wilmington, North Carolina.
Stan was born in New York City, where he graduated from Manhattan Vocational and Technical High School. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, Stan embarked on a career as electronics engineer with the Long Island Rail Road, from which he retired.
Stan’s many interests included music, all things electrical, and home renovation. He was an accomplished organist who would often entertain family and friends with concerts of holiday tunes,religious music, and pop songs. He could take apart and repair any instrument, electrical device, or piece of recording equipment. He successfully renovated several homes in New York and Delaware. He was also a passionate advocate and vocal proponent of the Fair Tax.
Stan will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Eileen O’Shea Sparling; his son, Joseph Kronwitt and his wife, Mary Jean, and granddaughter Kaitlyn; his son Matthew S. Skiba and his grandson, Matthew Anthony Skiba; his brother Matthew Skiba;and dear cousins Celine Ryan and Ed Mitchell. Stan was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret (Jurs) Skiba.
