Steven J. Debus

Steven J Debus Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and loving family at home on January 17, 2022 in St. James, New York. He was the husband of Susan R Debus. They were high school sweethearts of 47 years, and shared 39 years of marriage together. 

Steven was born on December 14, 1957 in Forest Hills, NY, to Adam and Elizabeth Debus. He was raised in St. James, New York along with his siblings Susan Grosso, Christopher Debus, Nancy Debus, Marybeth Bjertnes, and Adam Debus Jr.

He was a committed and loving family man, and the respected business owner of Debus Painting & Wallpapering for over 35 years. His dedication to the service he provided created life long customers, and friends. 

He enjoyed woodworking, skiing, snowmobiling, watching football, and spending time with his wife and children. But what gave him the most joy later on in life was doting on his grandchildren and creating memories together as a family.

He will be remembered for his respect of others, always “willing to help” attitude, his patience; and being a gentle man, as well as a gentleman. All who came to know him knew the big hearted person he was.

He is survived by his wife Susan R Debus, and their 2 children Carolyn Debus-Abelard (Edithson Abelard), Steven J Debus Jr., and 2 grandchildren Tydus and Lilian Abelard.
