Thomas E. Schuman, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 85. Tom was a man of boundless curiosity and courage, always eager to try new things and explore the world around him. Born on September 27, 1938, he lived a life filled with passion and purpose.
Tom embraced so many hobbies and adventures throughout his life. He had a deep passion for hunting and fishing. Family vacations spent in the mountains, on Fire Island to Montauk incorporated his love for boating, hunting and fishing with his family. If Tom wasn’t boating, you would find him on the tarmac piloting his plane. He loved spending time at his work bench making something special out of wood from scratch. He made his own bullets to master his skill as a marksman shooter. He enjoyed tennis for many years and became an avid pickleball player in his 80’s. Tom approached every endeavor with determination and enthusiasm.
However, his greatest accomplishment was undoubtedly being a devoted husband. Married to his beloved wife Florence for 63 years, Thomas was a pillar of strength and support, embodying the values of love, loyalty, and commitment.
In addition to being a wonderful husband, Thomas was a loving father to Suzanne, Karen, Tommy, and Jennifer. He loved his son in laws Doug, Kenny and Vince as his own. He not only raised his own children with care and affection but also took on the responsibility of raising his younger brother, Bob, and caring for his mother, Sally, with unwavering love and devotion.
Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, cherished by his 10 grandchildren:
Brittany, Kayla ,Daniel, Kenneth,Madison,
Thomas, Kariana, Erik, Hunter, and Cooper.
Though he may have departed this world to be with our Heavenly Father, Thomas E. Schuman will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His spirit of adventure, his kindness, and his indomitable spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
A celebration of Thomas's life will be held on February 12, 2024. May he rest in peace, knowing that he touched the lives of countless people and left the world a better place.
